Australian commentator Mel Jones has said that she will not join the broadcasting team in Pakistan to cover three-match T20 series with touring World XI as her visa didn’t arrive on time.
Jones will miss the T20 matches that start from September 12 and end on September 15. She wished all the best to both teams who will go head-to-head. “Was packed & ready to go but sadly the visa hasn t come through in time for @TheRealPCB v World XI. Here s to a g8 series! #PakvWXI,” she tweeted.
World XI is scheduled to play three T20s in Pakistan on September 12, 13 and 15. It was also reported that pacer Mohammad Amir might get dropped from the T20 matches due to his back injury. So far, all the foreign players have agreed to visit Pakistan. World XI squad, including Imran Tahir, David Miller, Morne Morkel, Tim Paine, Thisara Perera, Darren Sammy, Hashim Amla, Grant Elliott, Samuel Badree, George Bailey, Tamim Iqbal, Paul Collingwood and Ben Cutting, is captained by South African Faf du Plessis.
PCB Chairman Najam Sethi assured that government and Pakistan Army have supported the cause and contributed a great deal in security arrangements. He said a successful World XI series will make way for tours of Sri Lanka and West Indies in the coming months
