Obituary: Renowned journalist Zafar Siddiqi is no more

Pakistan’s leading journalist and former Chairman of Samaa TV , Zafar Siddiqi passed away in Dubai on Friday after a prolonged illness.
Siddiqui, 76 was battling cancer and was being treated in a UAE hospital.
He spent about 18 years at the international audit firm KPMG as a Chartered Accountant before entering the media industry.
He stepped in the filed of media in 1995 by setting up a TV production house Telebiz in Karachi, Pakistan. Later, he set up Business news Channel CNBC Pakistan in 2005 before laying foundation of a general new channel, Samaa TV and FM, in Pakistan in 2007 . He served as the chairman of all the three broadcast outlets.
Mr. Siddiqi was on the Board of the International Emmy’s and also serveed on the advisory counsel to the President of Nigeria. He has been an Adjunct Professor of Murdoch University.He had authored a book, TV News 3.0 on the new trends in broadcast journalism in the digital age.
