International Federation of Airline Pilots Association (IFALPA) has requested for participation in the investigation into the crash of PIA passenger plane near Karachi’s Jinnah Terminal on Friday last.
” The federation respectfully requests the participation of an IFALPA expert airline candidate in the search efforts and investigation of PIA Flight PK 8303 as advisor to the invesigator incharge, ” IFALPA President , Captain Jack Netskar said in a letter to Air Commodore Muhammad Usman Ghani, the head of team investigating into the plane crash.
PIA plane carrying 99 persons on onboard had crashed in Karachi before landing, killing 97. Only two persons survived the tragic incident.

Captain Jack Netskar said that IFALPA’s member association in Sri Lanka– Airline Pilots Guild of Sri Lanka (ALPGSL) , currently has has one such accredited aircraft accident investigator Captain Shavandra Pedris amongst its membership who is Airbus 320 rated.
He said that the Federation is involved in many aviation safety activities worldwide and believes that the participation of the active commercial pilot is an invaluable asset to any official accident and incident investigation.
The Montreal-based IFALPA has developed a programme involving the accreditation of pilot investigators, Jack Netskar said.
