Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Shahrayar Khan’s 3-year tenure came to an end on Friday as he proceeded on leave ahead of election of new head of country’s cricket regulatory body.
The elections for the next PCB chairman will be held on August 9.
Former TV anchor, Najam Sethi is all set to become next PCB chairman who will take over the reins of the board from Shaharyar. The customary election for the post of chairman will be held next week.
During Shaharyar Khan’s tenure, Pakistan cricket team won the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 title in June 2017 and also grabbed the top spot in Test rankings under Misbah-ul-Haq’s captaincy.
Nawabzada Shahryar Khan , born in Indian city of Bhopal in 1934, is a is a former career Pakistan diplomat who rose to the position of Foreign Secretary of Pakistan in 1990, and remained so till his retirement from service in 1994. He served as the Chairman of PCB twice i.e. from 2003-2006 and later from August 18, 2014 to August 4, 2017. Shahryar Khan is also a paternal uncle of Indian bollywood star, Saif Ali Khan.
