Japan extends US $ 27 million grant to Pakistan for airport security, met

Japan has announced to provide a grant assistance of US $ 27 million to Pakistan for the improvement of  airport security and procurement of equipment for meteorological department.

The official notes for the grants were exchanged in Islamabad on Tuesday. Syed Ghazanfar Abbas Jillani, Secretary, Economic Affairs Division and Takashi Harada, Charge d’ affairs ad interim at the Embassy of Japan, signed the Exchange of Notes and Record of Discussion, according to finance ministry statement.

Under the agreement signed in the capital Islamabad, of this grant, US $ 22.6 million will be spent for upgradation of security equipment at  Pakistan’s airports to make these places more safe and secure.

An amount of  US $ 4.7 million has been allocated for the procurement of  equipments for Pakistan Meteorological Department for installation in Punjab and Sindh provinces. These meteorological equipments will be utilized for data acquisition to make products for weather  forecasting, advisories and severe weather warnings.
