Only 44 percent Pakistanis watch News Channels every day while rest prefer entertainment and sports channels.According to a survey carried out by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, a nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked, regarding watching news on the television. In response to this question, 44% said they say saw news channels every day , 32% said at least 3 to 4 times a week and 18% said at least once a week. Only 6% said never.
The study was released by Gilani Research Foundation , the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1751 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during August 14 – August 21, 2017.
Pakistan’s Electronic Media watchdog, PEMRA has issued licenses to89 Satellite TV Channels. Of these , most are working as news channels.
