Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi visited the family of Pakistani student Sabika Sheikh in port city of Karachi on Sunday to express his condolences.
Sheikh was killed in Sante Fe High School shooting in Texas, United States of America on Friday.
PM Abbasi extended his condolences to the bereaved family and said that the entire nation was saddened over Sabika’s demise.
17-year-old Sabika Sheikh was killed during the Santa Fe high school shooting on Friday, one of the 10 victims who were mostly students.
A resident of Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal locality, Sheikh was studying in the US under the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) programme since August 21, 2017, and was due to return home next month.
A 17-year-old boy, identified by police as Dimitrios Pagourtzis, has been taken into custody following the attack, the 22nd school shooting in the US this year.
“She was extraordinary, genius, and talented,” Abdul Aziz, her father, told media at their home in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal neighbourhood.
Sabika Sheikh’s body is expected to be arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday or Wednesday. She is expected to be laid to rest on Thursday.
