No evidence of Corona Virus in chicken, says Pakistan’s Poultry body

Pakistan Poultry Association (PPA) has rubbished the rumours regarding the possibility of Novel Corona Virus in Chicken.
“We strongly condemn the baseless propaganda against the Poultry Products. The Corona Virus (2019-nCov) has not been reported in Chicken, Chaudhary Muhammad Fargham, Vice Chairman of the association said in a statement.
Moreover, Poultry has not been reported to be involved in transmission of 2019-nCov to human beings so far in any part of the world, he added.
He said that poultry is one of the most organized agro-based sector in Pakistan, adding that it has been serving the nation since 1962 and providing affordable poultry products to the masses to fulfill the requirements of animal protein.
Poultry at present contributes 40% of the total meat consumption and generates employment and income for thousands of people.
PPA Vice Chairman said that Federal Ministry of National Food Security & Research (Livestock Wing) and Poultry Research Institute Punjab have also rebutted this baseless news through their notifications.
“Therefore, chicken meat is healthy, nutritious and safe for the consumers. The chicken lovers may continue to consume chicken meat without any fear,” Chaudhary Muhammad Fargham said.
