A 25-year woman gave birth to five babies at a state-run hospital in Pakistan’s eastern city of Lahore on Wednesday morning.
Komal Shahzad , hailing from Mandi Faizabad , a small town of central Punjab, was admitted to Lady Aitcheson Hospital where she bore five quintuplets including three baby boys and two baby girls.
“ All the kids are okey,” says Shahzad Ahmad, father of the babies.
In May this year, a woman Rasheeda had also given birth to quintuplets at Lahore’s Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. Of these, one baby died during delivery while the remaining four children including two boys and two girls were safe.
During the month of March, a woman from Pakistan’s north-western district of Lower Dir had given birth to quadruplets including two boys and two girls in another hospital of Lahore, the city with dozens of state-run and privately owned health care facilities.
Pakistan is a home to over 210 million people with two cities- Karachi and Lahore with over 10 million people. Due to baby boom, the South Asian nation is sixth most populous country after China, India, United States of America, Indonesia and Brazil.
