Energy: Sajjad Ghani takes over as new WAPDA Chief

Lt. General (rtd) Sajjad Ghani has taken over as the Chairman of Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA). He has replaced Lt. General (rtd) Muzammil Hussain who recently tendered resignation from the office.
Lt. Gen (rtd) Sajjad Ghani is the 23rd chairman of the organization entrusted with the task of coceiving, developing and constructing the dams and other hydel projects with an objective to increase the share of clean and greenn hydel power in the energy mix and ensure the availability of more water for agriculture and other sectors.
Lt Gen Sajjad Ghani (retd), is a professional engineer and soldier, who has pursued two parallel career streams over the past four decades.
He received a Bachelor of Engineering Degree from the Military College of Engineering in 1984 and a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore in 1990.
He was Commandant Corps Engineers and Quarter Master General Pakistan Army where numerous mega construction projects were carried out under his supervision.
Lieutenant General Sajjad Ghani (Retd) belongs to Corps of Engineers, enlisted in 1978. He commanded the Infantry Brigade and Infantry Division during Swat operations and was Vice Chief of General Staff at Headquarters. He also commanded the corps in Karachi.
